Digital collecting becomes a reality thanks to Stampii, a Spanish company that has developed and launched to the world market the best bet to practice traditional collecting but in a completely innovative way, using computers and mobiles.
After a year of development, the Spanish company Stampii has presented this morning in Madrid a universal platform with a new proposal for leisure and entertainment: digital collections.
The innovative technology used allows users to acquire, download and collect stampii, a twenty-first century version of the chromium of a lifetime.
• Each stampii that the user acquires, has audiovisual content, which includes video-cover, videos, images, statistics and relevant information for each unit of the collection.• The collections gain in added value and interest when in addition the contents are updated free of charge day by day, incorporating new images and videos highlighted to each stampii.• The stampii can be exchanged with friends face to face using the mobile (similar to the usual stick of cards) to consult them and make the exchange or remotely, with another collector anywhere in the world, from social networks.• You can buy or give them away at any time and place through micropayment systems, without having to travel to a kiosk, with sms from the mobile, through prepaid accounts or through credit cards.• But you can also get stampii in promotions through unique codes in newspapers, covers of consumer products, containers or cans and enjoy them on the spot by activating the codes from your mobile or computer.
Stampii will launch collections in two modes, exchange collectible (envelopes with random stampii) or collectible by fascicles (subscription or by deliveries). It will offer a very wide variety of topics focused mainly on adolescents, young people and adults in the categories of sport, cinema, motor, series, music, without forgetting other more niche but very interesting possibilities such as cooking recipes, fitness exercises, hobbies such as hunting, fashion,...
Alex Baixas, CEO, affirms that "it is difficult to explain all the possibilities of stampii until you live the experience, then you understand the dimension of the concept and the effort we have made in transferring all the essence and simplicity of traditional collecting, adding mechanisms and trends according to the digital age. We are convinced that this project will be a success. At the moment, we are closing multiple agreements and licenses, which will be communicated later and that will allow us to launch more than 8 international digital collections in more than 10 countries throughout 2010."
For his part, Alfonso Marian, General Creative Director, comments that "they aspire to create a new digital leisure alternative, which begins today with collectibles but which also aims to cover other types of editorial content".
Stampii are purchased via micropayments via SMS, prepaid accounts, promotional codes or credit card. The prices are as modest as those of the usual cards. For 0.9 or 1.2 euros, we can buy a digital envelope with 4, 5 or 6 random stampii of the limited series produced and distributed for each collection and that are downloaded anytime, anywhere, on computers and mobiles, with just one click.
The platform has been developed to enjoy digital collecting taking full advantage of the different devices: for computers (PC and MAC) where it is more comfortable to enjoy all the audiovisual and informative content associated with each of the stampii, and for mobiles from which you enjoy more immediacy and portability with a more summarized selection of the information associated with each of them (Apple [iphone], Symbian [Nokia] and Windows Mobile although Android and Java will be incorporated shortly). In this way, the user decides which devices he wants to activate and which collections he wants to synchronize in each case. The platform offers international services and requires high availability so it was decided to host it in Interxion, a leading provider of hosting services in independent data centers in Europe, which provides the quality of service and direct connection to the main communication hubs it requires.
The user's property is a particularly careful section. Each stampii is unique and belongs to a limited series. To highlight the fact of user ownership of the purchased content, stampii has been developed into client applications that are downloaded and installed and the purchased and synchronized stampii are also downloaded on the user-activated devices. Once the stampii are downloaded, the local application decrypts the contents so that they can be enjoyed at any time, with or without an Internet connection. Likewise, a database certifies the stampii acquired and the exchanges between the users so that there is always a record of the legitimate owner of each of the stampii of each of the limited series of each collection.
José Laso, General Manager, comments "The truth is that it would have been much easier to develop any traditional web-based digital collecting system but from the beginning we consider that true collecting should reside in "the hand" of the collector while providing added value and differentiation. The concept and the idea in its origin have a tremendous field of development based on the multiple tastes and preferences of potential users, but we are also convinced that the platform is called to play a relevant role as a tool that contributes to the positioning and construction of brands. By way of example, let's think about the possibilities that open up in terms of brand association with collections and therefore the transmission of values whatever they may be; in the field of consumer knowledge, establishing a relationship with them and their loyalty; promotion associated with products;...... And all this with the advantage of being able to carry out homogeneous actions both locally and internationally, measuring the return on investment both quantitatively, participation/redemption, and qualitatively, brand knowledge and attributes".
