Latin America. Achieving the majority of votes, the Colombian firm Integración AV was the winner of the CALA Awards for Best AV Project in 2024, an award presented last Wednesday, August 14, within the framework of IntegraTec Mexico, which was attended by Carolina Sosa and Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, representatives of the integrating company.
The winning project was the renovation of the Medical Simulation Center of the Javeriana University of Bogotá, Colombia. The project bet on communicating with students through a language that they master: technology.
The new medical simulation center currently has 20 spaces divided into offices, critical care areas, hospitalization, observation with space for 3 patients, Debriefing, microsurgery equipped with 10 microscopes, laparoscopy, surgery room with its control room, Control Center with 6 Gesell camera-type modules and classrooms.
All spaces have installed simulators, which are dolls with the vital functions of a person on which students practice, ptz cameras, recorders, Shure microphones, control screens, speakers, video projectors, encoders and Liberty video decoders and other technological equipment that allow students to experience real situations in emergency rooms, emergencies and in clinics and hospitals. The teacher can see what is happening in these spaces and test or provide feedback to their students in real time. While this is happening, the classmates, who are in the classrooms, can see what is happening through the screens and projection systems installed in the classrooms.

The finalists meet in Mexico
Representatives of the five finalist firms of the CALA Awards for the Best AV Project in 2024, met in Mexico, invited by AVI Latin America and the IntegraTec fair, to participate in different activities within the framework of the awards.
Tatiana Oliveira from Convergint, Giancarlo Muñoz from Smart Spaces, Jorge Rodríguez from Matizzo, Víctor Villar and Gonzalo Yika from Telvicom and Carolina Sosa and Juan Carlos Gutiérrez from Integración AV, participated in a dinner in which they were able to meet and share during the night before the awards.
On August 14, the finalists participated in the AV Industry Panorama panel, in which they analyzed the role of the industry in the region. This panel was moderated by Jorge Biatturi of Vision Direct of Uruguay. And, finally, they participated in the award ceremony of the Contest.
