Colombia. Within the framework of ANDICOM 2024, CINTEL, in collaboration with leading organizations and actors in the technology sector, announced the development of the "Manifesto for the equity and inclusion of women in STEM disciplines", an initiative that seeks to close gender gaps and promote the active participation of women in disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The objective of the manifesto is to generate an environment where women have equal opportunities in training, development and participation in society, especially in STEM fields. Under this commitment, work is being done to guarantee the respect, protection and promotion of women's rights in all areas, encouraging their inclusion in strategic and leadership roles.
The focus of the manifesto is on four key areas: education and training, creating opportunities, fairness in professional and personal life, and protection against discrimination. Among the proposed actions are mentoring programs, promotion of female entrepreneurship, implementation of inclusive policies, development of technologies for the protection of women, and campaigns to encourage the participation of girls and young women.
This initiative has been initiated with the participation of several communities such as Mujeres TIC, Interconectadas, Geek Girls, Womanize, and with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, as well as the support of several entities and organizations from the public and private sector. It is expected that by the first week of October a final version will be obtained.
CINTEL called on entrepreneurs, organizations, educational institutions and society in general to join this collective effort to transform gender equality into a palpable reality in all social and economic areas.
