Latin America. With the goal of making AI an "Everyday, Everywhere" experience, Samsung is harnessing the power of AI to bring intelligence into everyday life, allowing people to experience a more personal, impactful, and empowering world.
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, vice president, CEO and head of Samsung's DX (Device eXperience) division unveiled the company's roadmap for AI Home, a plan to redefine the meaning of home by providing truly personalized services across all smart and connected devices.
This strategy, along with Samsung's innovations in AI-powered devices in mobile devices, home appliances, and displays, is a testament to Samsung's historic commitment to human-centric innovation and brings the power of AI into everyday experiences to improve everyone's lives.
"I'm proud of how we've introduced new technologies and intelligence to the home, connected leading devices and set the standard for the home of the future. This year at CES, we are reinforcing our commitment to delivering personalized experiences through our widespread deployment of AI and will continue this trajectory of leadership in AI in the home and on the go, not just over the next decade, but into the next century," said Vice President Han.
Enhancing everyday experiences with AI Home
Jonathan Gabrio, director of the Connected Experience Center at Samsung Electronics America, elaborated on Samsung's AI Home vision, underscoring the company's commitment to integrating AI into the entire connected experience to cater to diverse lifestyles. From single-person homes to multigenerational families under one roof, AI Home learns from habits and adapts to individual routines to deliver a hyper-personalized smart home experience.
Security and privacy are at the heart of Samsung's strategy for AI Home. Samsung recognizes that as users use more connected devices in their homes and AI becomes more personal, it must also protect users' privacy. To meet these needs, the company has expanded its security capabilities. Now, Samsung Knox Matrix protects home appliances, along with mobile devices and TVs, with its unique blockchain technology, ensuring that connected devices work together to protect the user's home, their data, and protect each other from digital threats. With Knox Matrix Dashboard, a transparent privacy control, Samsung simplifies security management across the connected home. As information is synchronized between devices, Knox Matrix's Credential Sync ensures that data can only be encrypted or decrypted from the user's devices, and Samsung Knox Vault adds an extra layer of protection, keeping sensitive information — such as passwords or PINs — isolated in a safe place.
Samsung's One UI provides an integrated software experience across all connected Samsung devices, improving interoperability, allowing users to use AI-powered features, and offering software updates for up to seven years.
Behind all this is SmartThings, Samsung's smart home platform that brings smart connectivity to millions of users around the world. With Samsung's belief in open innovation and partnerships at its core, SmartThings is being equipped with the latest AI technology to optimize and personalize the smart home experience to provide total convenience. SmartThings Ambient Sensing intuitively understands the user's environment and situational context by analyzing even people's movements and ambient sounds by means of connected devices within the home, allowing such devices to respond and adapt intelligently and seamlessly to daily routines.
Bixby Voice, an advanced AI voice assistant, will be integrated to increase usability. The assistant has been trained so that it can recognize each person's voices and respond to commands in the most appropriate way for each user.
These AI Home updates free up time previously spent on home management, allowing users to focus on what's most important and explore new passions. Samsung's new Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 360 are AI computers designed to boost productivity with Intel® Core™ Ultra (Series 2) processors and enhance creativity with features like AI Select and Samsung Studio. AI Select makes navigation easy, while Samsung Studio allows users to edit on their smartphones, tablets or Galaxy PCs wherever inspiration strikes, at home or on the go. Powered by NPU, Photo Remaster transforms low-resolution photos into high-quality images, while Storage Share allows users to directly access files on their smartphone from their PCs, bypassing the downloading process.
Productivity also entails proactivity. When AI and Samsung Health are combined, users become in control of their health and well-being. With AI-powered health information collected across Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch, Samsung is helping users understand their data and make better decisions about their well-being. These new capabilities will further enhance the overall experience of Samsung Health, which stands out as an end-to-end health solution that integrates the entire home seamlessly.
Perfect entertainment in the age of AI
Samsung's recent display experiences, powered by Samsung's Vision AI technology, ensure surprising joy in users' everyday lives thanks to new features and unparalleled customization. The AI Screen experience brings intelligence to TVs, providing users with Generative Wallpaper, Simultaneous Translation, and Click-to-Search features. At the forefront of this technology is the Neo QLED 8K, which provides the most advanced viewing experiences through AI features such as 8K AI Upscaling Pro, Auto HDR Remastering Pro, and Color Booster Pro, all of which work behind the scenes to intelligently improve picture quality. In addition, The Frame's art experience is evolving, allowing all Samsung QLEDs to come with a digital collection of more than 3,000 works of art, making it possible to turn any room into a personal gallery.
Samsung's commitment to its Screens Everywhere strategy is reflected in new display options for its appliances, including its new refrigerators with 9" AI Home screens and other devices with 7" screens. Users will be able to enjoy more advanced functionalities—including various entertainment services, AI features such as AI Vision Inside, and direct access to the online grocery shopping platform Instacart—across a wider range of products.
Taking AI Everywhere
Beyond the home, Samsung's AI innovations were designed to transform new categories and sectors with SmartThings Pro. Created to provide business partners with the same AI-powered digital solutions that SmartThings offers users, this B2B solution will span everything from multi-residential homes to retail spaces, hotels, schools, and more. Since its launch last June, SmartThings Pro offers businesses integrations to better understand energy usage, proactively identify devices with maintenance needs, and offers comprehensive control of connected solutions. Samsung is working with partners to create an innovative platform, Future Innovation Technology (FIT), for companies and larger buildings to establish automated climate controls that save energy and reduce costs.
The company is also working with Samsung Heavy Industries on a new SmartThings collaboration that uses the Matter connectivity standard to connect with compatible ships. SmartThings for Ships offers a pre-sailing mode, which allows captains and crews to automate engine starting and activate temperature and light settings, saving time and energy. Meanwhile, Care mode provides a complete view of the ship's power, HVAC systems and smoke alarms, while Protection mode constantly monitors any abnormal activity and will alert the captain and crew.
In addition, Samsung is expanding SmartThings and automotive integrations in a new partnership with Hyundai Motor Group to bring SmartThings to Hyundai's electric vehicles. With the expansion of the ecosystem, users can now use SmartThings Find to easily locate their car, even in crowded parking lots. With the power of AI Home, SmartThings can make recommendations on when to charge EVs based on schedules and rates. And, if a power outage occurs, battery backup mode will automatically kick in, which works in conjunction with AI power mode to prolong battery power to power household essentials.
In the automotive space, Samsung and its subsidiary Harman are continuing their promise to transform the in-car experience with new products that bring contextual awareness to the cabin. Leveraging Samsung's expertise in UX and AI, Harman's new in-vehicle avatar acts as an intelligent digital co-pilot that works with Harman products such as Ready Care and Ready Vision to anticipate needs while drivers focus on the road.
