Colombia. Samsung and the Universidad del Rosario started a new edition of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), an initiative that since 2020 has trained more than 1,300 young Colombians in technological skills.
This new cycle, which began on January 17, will last 260 hours and will offer specialized training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as in skills necessary to strengthen the profiles of young people in the world of work.
The program, which will be developed in synchronous virtual mode, received more than 2,000 applications, of which 78 were selected through a rigorous process that included technical tests, social evaluations, motivation letters and virtual interviews. This diverse group reflects the commitment to inclusion, integrating women heads of household, victims of violence, members of ethnic communities, people in the process of reintegration and others in the process of reintegration.
"Our commitment is to provide young Colombians with the necessary tools to lead in an increasingly digital and competitive world. This program not only transforms lives, but also strengthens the technological and social development of the country," said Iván Laverde Gómez, Corporate Affairs Manager at Samsung Electronics Colombia.
For her part, Sandra Milena Chacón, Dean of the School of Management of the Universidad del Rosario, highlighted: "We are proud to be part of this initiative that promotes inclusive education and contributes to the development of essential competencies for global challenges. This program creates opportunities and reduces gaps in access to technology."
Samsung Innovation Campus is made up of two main areas:
Technical training in Artificial Intelligence (AI): Participants will receive specialized training in data science, machine learning, and deep learning, using advanced tools such as Python, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow.
Soft skills and employability: this module includes training in effective communication, teamwork, critical thinking, international recruitment, personal branding and proficiency in English as a competitive tool.
In addition, students will develop a Capstone project, which consists of a practical final project where they integrate and apply everything they have learned during the program to real business cases and challenges, helping them to better prepare themselves to face the demands of the world of work.
Since its implementation, this initiative has been an engine of change in the country. Thanks to strategic alliances with unions and companies, Samsung Innovation Campus has established itself as a bridge between education and the needs of the labor market, strengthening the development of young talent in Colombia.
With this new edition, Samsung and the Universidad del Rosario renew their commitment to closing technological gaps and encouraging the incursion of young people into the world of work. This effort not only provides tools for young people to excel in the professional field, but also promotes the growth of a more equitable society prepared for the challenges of the future.
