Latin America. IMS Research, in its Online TV Set Shipment Database report, reveals that Latin America is projected to be the best television market in the coming years.
The forecast indicates that in 2015 the installed base television in Latin America will increase by around 26%, above other regions. According to Veronica Thayer, a researcher on the report, "it is the growth in the number of TVs per household and government support that has influenced a rapid transition to digital transmission."
In addition, according to the study, recent updates show changes in the demand for LCD, OLED and IDTVs. LCD sales marked a growth of 29% in 2010, however, this was lower than the 43% recorded in 2009, and by 2015 it will be below 1%.
"If LCD technology continues to decline in prices on account of mass production, OLEDs will begin to gain traction in the digital TELEVISION market and by 2015 it will have reached 4%," Thayer added.
