Audio-Technica celebrates the 25th anniversary of one of its most popular microphones, the AT4050 multi-pattern condenser microphone. It was originally designed for the studio, but due to its consistency and durability, it was also quickly adopted by engineers and continues to be employed for all types of live applications.
Still regarded as an essential tool by many engineers, it has a reputation for being a studio capacitor that captures all nuances. With three switchable polar patterns, the large AT4050 diaphragm exhibits a remarkable combination of qualities: high SPL capability with transparent and aerated tops/mids complemented with rich low-end qualities.
Its large double diaphragms are vaporized with gold and aged for consistent performance, while a precision-machined nickel-plated brass acoustic element deflector provides stability and high sensitivity, for studio use and live sound productions with vocals, piano, strings, drums or guitar amplifiers.
