We can't lose the north

Dear readers,

It is a real pleasure for me to sit down and write the first editorial of AVI LATINOAMERICA, the only magazine on audio, video and lighting issues that will be exclusively focused on Latin American audiences. Although every beginning is difficult, we are sure of the success of this new dream, because from our experience in other technological segments, such as electronic security and building automation, we were able to detect enormous potential in a niche that, despite being used by millions of people, it remained abandoned and without the required attention.

Therefore, we intend to be the number one source of information for professionals who are dedicated to the integration of these technologies, guaranteeing them first-hand information, originated in the best sources: the manufacturers of the technology themselves. But well, we are in a moment of transition between 2007 and 2008 where the convergence between audio, video and information technology is on the lips of the entire technological planet. We may still be a little nostalgic for the old but beloved video projection systems of the 70s, but the world changed and got into the "wave" of the digital and from there went on to use the communication resources of the Internet and other means of transmission.

What I am going to do then is that the present and the future are highly linked to the Internet and it is precisely from this union that new businesses will come from. Integrators who still think that computer systems are only the responsibility of others, I think they will stay as the candy seller in the middle of the desert: ALONE.

The integration of knowledge in VA with greater skills is a field of opportunities, because even the end users themselves are in the IP story. Really, it is not a joke or product of the obstinacy of some sector of the industry; is that the world as it is currently conceived requires the network to function, to optimize processes and generate impact, because no one can deny that the network has a profound market impact.

The recommendation, then, of this medium in its first edition is to break the paradigms and be a little interested in knowing what is at the other end of the cable. Reluctance to know does not have good results at all.

Until next time.
