International. NEC Display and AV&Data have favoured digitalisation at the Pàlcam School in Barcelona. The project began in 2005 and now has a total of 72 classrooms with digital whiteboards and state-of-the-art projectors. The devices are used at all levels of education taught at the school.
The Pàlcam School of Barcelona has been one of the pioneer schools in Spain in betting on the digitalization of its classrooms, since eleven years ago it installed the first projectors in them. The center has 60 years of experience in education and is characterized by its personalized and quality training offer, which implies a personalized follow-up of its students.
At the forefront of Education
Technological solutions are very useful for student learning in schools and interaction with teachers. The objective of the Pàlcam School is to train its students as people and effective members of our society, so they consider it vital to adapt to new trends and changes in it. To achieve this, NEC Display Solutions together with AV&Data, its partner specialized in solutions for educational environments, designed an ad hoc project for them.
Society has evolved technologically in all areas and that is why the school wants to adapt to the new reality. They understand that their students observe the world from the point of view of a digital native and perceive new technologies as another tool to acquire new knowledge and train.
Digitalization for students and teachers
Pàlcam has twenty-two M260XS projectors whose most innovative facet is short throw ratio which facilitates the interaction of, in this case, student and teacher.
In order to achieve a total integration and use of technologies by students and teachers, infant and primary classrooms include, in addition to interactive digital screens, projectors with Up &Down lifting mechanism, which facilitates the ascent and descent of the interactive system. To them are added nine M333XS equipment of last integration that have replaced the old projection equipment. Thanks to its filterless design with DLP light motor, the lamp has a longer service life.
Therefore, the digitalization of classes not only favors the collaborative and cooperative learning of students, but also facilitates through new technological tools the work of teachers, as in the case of the COMM control system, which allows them to control the projectors from the same point, through which they can take advantage of the full potential of the equipment with maximum reliability.
For the teachers of Escuela Pàlcam, this commitment is an "inevitable need that we cannot avoid, digitalization is another step to follow if we want our students to become active members of a technological society like ours", says Antoni Moré Gil, audiovisual coordinator of Pàlcam.
The school is characterized by providing a quality and personalized education, so the digitalization of its classes takes more force in view of the improvements it means for students and teachers, as Moré Gil explains: "it brings new technologies in teaching to all levels, from P3 to Baccalaureate and Training Cycles, with the quality and techniques necessary to make it a cutting-edge project".
