Colombia. Media server Christie Pandoras Box played a crucial role in Mazda's booth during Expomarketing 2016 in Bogotá. The automotive brand installed an innovative system that allowed to see the interior of a Mazda 3 as if it were an X-ray scanner. The idea was developed and implemented by the Colombian company Vinilo Lab, a specialist in conceptualization of emerging technologies and development of digital content.
The system, dubbed the X Ray Scanner, consisted of a 65-inch movable monitor installed vertically next to a Mazda 3 car in a structure that allowed the screen to slide parallel to the vehicle. This created the effect that the monitor was seeing the interior of the car through X-rays, visualizing its entire skeleton, its security measures, design details and endless information interactively.
Its operation was based on Christie Pandoras Box, which was the platform that managed all the interactivity of the X Ray Scanner system, detected the movements of the monitor and synchronized them with a 3D model of the car. Specifically, a Pandoras Box Client Server PRO, a Pandoras Box Manager STD and a Widget Designer PRO were used, which is the software that allows you to create interactive applications.
Thanks to these apps, visitors approaching the Mazda booth could see the hidden parts of the Mazda 3, with details of the innovative features of the car's interior world.
The X Ray Scanner app was used at Expomarketing 2016 (the largest marketing fair in Latin America) as an original and interactive way to attract visitors and allow them to look under the skin of the new Mazda 3. The app was also mixed with demo videos of Mazda's latest technology.
Vinilo Lab was the studio that developed from scratch all the programming, configuration of the X Ray Scanner system and the digital contents for this platform. Eduardo Ortega, CEO of the company, tells us his impressions: "The system we implemented was a resounding success that allowed Mazda to attract hundreds of visitors to its stand during the development of the fair. People were captivated by the interactivity and originality of the system, which really gave a lot to talk about."
And regarding Pandoras Box, Ortega says that it was key for everything to go smoothly: "Without a doubt, the real time and programming that was developed with the Widget Designer were the best combination for the success of this project. It allowed us to work at a high speed in the design and implementation of the system and control all the elements of the platform, showing enormous versatility and creativity and with a very friendly operation", he concludes.
