Cuauhtémoc University is renewed with Casio projectors

Mexico. The Universidad Cuauhtémoc campus Querétaro has integrated 49 LampFree projectors as part of its renewed inventory, to offer teachers, students and administrative staff better learning, teaching and work tools. 20 XJ-V1 projectors and 29 XJ-V2 projectors, both models part of the Core line, complement the current offer of audiovisual solutions of the University, which aim to make teaching more didactic and effective through technology.

The Cuauhtémoc University Campus Querétaro is part of the Cuauhtémoc System, composed of universities in various cities of the country, with the first of them founded in Puebla in 1977. For 40 years, Universidad Cuauthémoc has trained thousands of professionals in areas such as Law, Architecture. Pedagogy and Communication, among others, under the slogan "With work and ethics we will better serve the Homeland".

For several years, the academic content taught to the students of Universidad Cuauhtémoc is supported by digital presentations with images, audio and video, so the campus has constantly invested in the acquisition of projectors of various brands, resolutions, features and price ranges.

However, as of 2016 the Technology and Informatics area of the institution – in charge of the acquisition, installation and maintenance of projectors, as well as other technological systems, networks and IT – chose to rely on Casio's line of LampFree projectors and they have not backed down, since in addition to offering a low total cost of ownership, its efficient operation has optimized the time and resources of the area, and improved the overall functioning of all staff.

"We care that all classrooms, halls and auditoriums have a good projection; that the projectors are easy to use and have the options to connect by VGA or HDMI," said Pedro Castro Rodríguez, Director of Technology and Informatics at Universidad Cuauhtémoc Querétaro. "This month we celebrate a year with Casio. We started with 22 projectors and right now we have a total of 49." Engineer Castro Rodríguez expects to add several more projectors in the coming semesters.

"With Casio projectors, for example, I no longer have to be aware of restarting lamp hours, servicing the filter, cleaning it and, where appropriate, reinstalling or buying it," said Pedro Castro. "There is also the energy saving, the fact that the projector does not generate heat and that when turned on it immediately projects; you turn it off and off, you don't have to wait several minutes or for it to go on stand-by."

Optimized operations with the help of Casio
The area of Technology and Informatics at Universidad Cuauhtémoc is composed of 9 people, of which there is a scholarship holder and a collaborator who carries out their professional practices. That is, the base team of seven engineers and specialists had to divide the task of installing, reviewing, maintaining and repairing about 100 lamp projectors, in addition to many other tasks such as network configuration, acquisition of computer equipment and technical support for students and teachers, among others.

Thanks to the replacement of almost half of traditional projectors by Casio LampFree equipment, the systems staff has more free time to develop software and applications that benefit the institution, as well as pay special attention to the doubts and problems that students may have with their machines, because now they do not have to worry about the replacement of lamps and the constant service that this type of projectors require.

In this regard, says Pedro Castro: "The distribution of my work was 60% or 70% dedicated to technical support and the rest to other things. Now it's at 50% – 50% so we do more network development, more monitoring and management."

"Since we started last year buying Casio, we've stayed with the brand. In fact, the projectors to which the lamp has been melted, we have been replacing them, but with new Casio projectors", concludes Pedro.
