Brazil. Christie Boxer projectors were behind the spectacular mapping projections that occurred last December on the façade of the Palace of the Lions, the seat of government of the state of Maranhão in Brazil.
Conceived as part of the annual Christmas celebrations organized by the Government of the State of Maranhão, the rental company Academia do Show assumed the role of installation and operation of the projection system for this exceptional visual experience.
Thousands of people went out at night in the streets of the old quarter of São Luís, capital of Maranhão, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, to see the Christmas of All, a series of events organized by local authorities to celebrate Christmas.
The main event took place on the façade of the Palace of the Lions, which was used as a screen to display animations about the richness of culture of the region, as well as a series of Christmas contents that were projected every night at 7pm in a space of 1000 square meters of irregular surface. The animations were created by Estudio Blanco y Negro.
The goal was to create a big impact, and the best way to do that was with mapping projection. Thus, from the beginning, Academia do Show knew that only Christie Boxer projectors guaranteed the power, brightness and resolution necessary for the work, offering clarity of images with excellent details.
Academia do Show started work immediately and designed an array of four Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors. With a resolution of 12300 x 1080 pixels, the contents were launched from PC servers using Resolume Arena software.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the audiovisual equipment was ready for the event, as Academia do Show had little time to install and fine-tune the projectors. In that sense, mapping a façade of that size requires enormous work to adapt the content to be seen naturally and with impeccable quality on such an irregular surface.
The specialized team of technicians and engineers of this rental and staging company quickly aligned and calibrated the images to be projected on the façade with a total of 120 thousand lumens, meeting all the deadlines of the schedule.
The mapping was a resounding success that impressed the public due in large part to the performance of the Christie Boxer projectors. "The Christie Boxer projectors had everything we needed lightness of weight, brightness, 4K resolution, as well as the reliability it takes for a high-profile event," said José Augusto of Academia do Show.
