Colombia. In 2003 a group of entrepreneurs decided to meet with the desire to provide solutions that involved integrated technology products. This is how the Colombian company Intech was born, which in its beginnings had the intention of providing both integration and distribution services.
"At that time the knowledge about home automation was little and that is why we are dedicated to importing outstanding brands in the industry, which we have preserved over time, managing to become a benchmark for the industry," Pablo Lara, executive director of Intech, told AVI LATINOAMÉRICA.
In 2006 there was a change in the company's approach, deciding to be distributors exclusively and adding solutions for audio, video, lighting control, interconnection, projection, security, IP voice, automation, and networking.
For 15 years, which they are currently celebrating at Intech, they represent the manufacturers Lutron, Global Cache and Speaker Craft, and today they are about 20 brands in their portfolio.
The Executive Director of Intech stressed that during the first half of the year the Colombian market has been good. Sales have had a tendency to grow and that is why they have added new brands, such as Denon and Optoma, which helps them innovate in technology and strategies. "The product that a customer is most looking for when they want to remodel their home is sound, then lighting control, an idea that is born from the integrator. They also seek to have control of the house from their Smartphone."
This year's goal for Intech has been to increase training options for integrators, with webinars and trainings, as well as live events via the internet, which are streamed on the company's website.
"When an integrator is trained, they have a better chance of generating resources for their companies. Home automation and IoT are topics you have to learn to handle them, because all systems do the same. Integrators prefer us for the transfer of knowledge, pricing policies and the quality of products," concluded Pablo Lara.
