Brazil. Christie Boxer projectors and the Christie Spyder X80 video processor brought the world's largest gaming display to life. It was at Game XP, the biggest gamer event in Latin America that just took place at the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro.
This gigantic amusement park and competitions for video game lovers brought together in four days 100,000 competitors and fans who enjoyed official championships and launches of the novelties of the main companies in the sector.
The star of the event was a giant screen of 1500 square meters, the largest of its kind in the world, located inside one of the stadiums with capacity for 4500 people. There were great finals, with live narratives such as League of Legends, Clash Royale or Rainbow 6.
The directors of Omelete Company, the company that organized the event together with Rock in Rio and Grupo Globo, wanted the best audiovisual equipment available to ensure a truly impressive visual experience and, with that in mind, contacted Ricardo Laporta of Christie Brasil. Laporta quickly notified one of Christie Brasil's rental & staging experts, Daniel Monteiro, and working with Brazilian integrator Ponto Midia they designed a matrix based on four Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors to illuminate the huge screen.
Thanks to its features (native 4K resolution, 3DLP® technology, 30,000 lumens, omnidirectional capacity and reduced size, it weighs only 68 kilos), the placement of the Boxers at various angles to cover the entire screen was a real luxury. The sum of the four projectors produced a whopping 120,000 lumens to illuminate the gigantic 1500-square-meter screen that was installed for the occasion in the Oi Game Arena, which stretched from floor to ceiling for almost half of one of the Olympic gyms.
To manage the contents, the Christie Spyder X80 was used, the most powerful multi-window and multi-screen processor and content manager on the market, winner of the award for Best Rental/Entertainment Product for Live Events of InfoComm 2017. It is the only video processor with the ability to manage 4K at a refresh rate of 60Hz on a single channel. In short, as game XP executives thought, the sum of lox Boxers and spyder X80 was the perfect pairing to give life to the largest gaming screen on the planet.
The result was an unforgettable experience for the 4500 people who filled the Oi Game Arena every day. "Having Christie by our side was key to getting the quality we wanted for the screen," said Roberto Fabri, CMO of Game XP.
Daniel Monteiro, from Christie, said: "We are delighted that our technology has played such an important role in this spectacular visual experience that will live on in the memories of viewers. Our sincere congratulations to the Game XP team for offering us a fantastic show that has left its mark in Brazil."
