Mexico. Capturing images on the façade of the Cathedral of Guadalajara or giving life and color to a monumental agave plant through the use of projections with videomapping technique, was possible thanks to the technology that Panasonic provided for the realization of the recent GDLUZ Festival 2019, an attractive show that was part of the celebrations of the 477th anniversary of the founding of the city of Guadalajara, capital of the State of Jalisco.
Conceived, designed and produced by the young Mexican company AlteaCorp, the GDLUZ Festival 2019 was held, from February 13 to 16, in different public squares, monuments and buildings of the Historic Center of Guadalajara. With light as a raw material, AlteaCorp's creatives used different techniques of lighting, projection, pyrotechnics, papyrotechnics and interactive elements, as well as live music, to present different shows, artistic installations and multimedia experiences that were offered free of charge to the audience.
With traditional Mexican music, performed by the Municipal Band of Guadalajara, the show of the Cathedral of Guadalajara consisted of a videomapping that turned its huge façade into a multicolored canvas on which scenes illustrating the theme of the songs were projected. A representation of "La Bikina" or the figure of the popular idol Pedro Infante, were mixed with textures of traditional crafts and toys that changed according to the rhythm of the music. The production of this show used four Panasonic projectors, model PT-DZ21K2U, 3 DLP with WUXGA resolution and brightness of 20 thousand lumens, to display the images on a surface of 100 meters high by 100 meters of base.
According to Marcos Jiménez Monroy, CEO of AlteaCorp and Creative Director of the GDLUZ Festival, the team in charge of the production of the contents has been working for months before on the research, art direction and design of 2D and 3D animation that are shown during the festival. "Content is the soul of every project. We mix Mexican traditions with the highest technology," says the manager.
A few steps from the Cathedral, the Agave Multimedia show was held in the Plaza de la Liberación. This stage mixed mariachi music, folkloric ballet and a DJ, with architectural and robotic lighting, pyrotechnics, papyrotechnics, interactive bracelets and a very precise projection on the peaks of a temporary sculpture, 16 meters high, which shaped the agave plant. Two Panasonic laser projectors, model PT-RZ31KU, with brightness of 31 thousand lumens and WUXGA resolution, were installed 40 meters away by the producers of AlteaCorp to display different shapes and figures that gave the sensation of movement to the sculpture.
For Marcos Jiménez Monroy it is essential that the projectors have the quality and power necessary for the content to unfold spectacularly. In his opinion, the use of laser technology in high luminosity and performance equipment such as those of Panasonic is a guarantee for companies such as AlteaCorp, because by combining high luminosity, with 20 thousand hours of life, the projectors ensure a reliable operation with a uniform image display.
In addition to supplying the projection equipment, Panasonic de Mexico, through its B2B Business Solutions Division, supported the GDLUZ Festival 2019 with specialized personnel to provide advice and technical support during production.
