Chile. The Chilean cinema chain Muvix has acquired eight Christie cinema projectors for its new Multiplex La Fábrica, located in Santiago de Chile, which will be the first in the country to have a Dolby Atmos room.
Muvix and its sister chain Cine Star belong to the Syem Group, the only exhibition company in the country with Chilean capital. While Cine Star focuses on small cities of between 40,000 and 70,000 inhabitants with cinemas of no more than four theaters, Muvix, on the other hand, comes to be located in the great commercial developments of the country.
The operation is part of the agreement reached by the Syem and Christie Group in 2007 to equip 40 cinemas throughout the country with cinema projectors of the brand. "We have tested the Christie projectors that we already have operational in conditions quite to the limit and they have given us excellent performance and visual quality without comparisons," said Sebastián Martínez, CEO and founder of Muvix. "They are very reliable teams, and we also have a very good human relationship with the Christie team, so Muvix and Cine Star will continue to rely on this brand as their visual partner."
The new complex, which will open to the public in June of this year, will be located in the La Fabrica Patio Outlet shopping center. It will have eight screens with a total capacity of 1,596 seats. It will have a PLF room (which will have the name of AERA) with a screen of 19 meters illuminated by a Christie CP4230. This room will be the first in the country with Dolby Atmos sound. The other screens in the complex will be equipped with Christie CP2215 and Christie CP2220 projectors.
Diego Lopez, Christie's GENERAL MANAGER NOLA and Andean Region, said: "We are very happy that Muvix continues to rely on Christie for its new resorts. They have always had great concern for all improvements and technical innovations, so they require a quality standard according to what Christie offers. So we're thrilled that they feel totally safe in our hands."
