Avid Expands Line of Audio Control Surfaces

Latin America. Avid introduced two new audio control surfaces, the Avid S4 and Avid S1, for small studio and audio pre/post production professionals. These products provide the most integrated, powerful and accessible solutions in the industry, and will be available by the end of 2019.

The Pro Tools control surface | Avid's S6 has become an industry leader. In a more compact and ergonomic package, the Avid S4 surface brings the power and workflows of the S6 to budget-conscious audio professionals and small to medium-sized music production and pre/post-production centers. The Avid S1 control surface offers the unmatched speed, advanced visual feedback and software integration of the Avid S6 into a compactly designed portable surface that easily fits into any space or budget.

"The Avid S4 and S1 control surfaces open up a myriad of options that have never been possible before for music mixing engineers, smaller studios and schools," said Rob D'Amico, director of Avid's audio and video segment. "This is how Avid responds to the needs of our customers who require more power, more advanced workflows and the key functions found on the Avid S6 control surface. The new Avid surfaces, the DAW, and all the basic functions of the Avid S6 surface combine to create a professional system with total control and flexibility that is within everyone's reach."

Large mixes for small studios with the Avid S4
The Avid S4 control surface is designed for production studios and small to medium-sized audio pre/post-production centers. The Avid S4 provides the same workflows as the S6, the industry-standard control surface, to any editor or sound engineer.

The surface acts and feels like a physical extension of the software, resulting in a unique experience when integrated into any EUCON-enabled DAW workstation such as Pro Tools, Nuendo, Pyramix, Logic Pro, Cubase among many others. The S4 surface also allows engineers to quickly assign and control the talkback, listenback and monitors from the surface to give you control of everything so you can work, from simple reference mixes to monitoring immersive audio projects.

The S4 control surface offers advanced high-resolution visual feedback that allows you to represent everything from VUs meters of each channel, groups, equalization curves and automation data to the Pro Tools tracks, which can be edited directly from the surface.

The modular surface is easily configured and offers users the flexibility to assemble the ideal system for any workflow, with capacity from 8 to 24 faders and the flexibility to add screens, joystick and different types of modules. When combined with Pro Tools | Ultimate, the S4 surface can create immersive Dolby Atmos mixes.

Mix big in any space with the Avid S1
The Avid S1 control surface gives professionals the speed, accuracy and software integration they need to deliver better-sounding mixes in less time. From recording and editing tracks to mixing and monitoring in stereo or surround, the S1 surface provides the comprehensive control and visual feedback needed to speed up any workflow. As with the S6 and S4, the new S1 surface has the power of EUCON to offer deep integration with Pro Tools and Media Composer, in addition to its native support for applications from other companies such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Premiere Pro and others.

Users can easily scale the S1 control surface as their needs grow. Audio professionals can connect four drives—and even add a Pro Tools | Dock—to create a single extended, integrated surface. With its motorized faders and responsive knobs, fast-access touchscreen workflows, and programmable keys to complete complex tasks with a single tap, the S1 provides the speed and versatility needed to accelerate any music project, audio and/or video pre and post-production.
