Christie helps in imposing mapping with 28 projectors

International. 28 laser projectors of the Christie HS Series are starring in the biggest show ever performed in Spain: El Sueño de Toledo. This is the first show of Puy du Fou Spain, the future entertainment park that will open its doors in the spring of 2021 in Toledo and is under construction.

The French theme park Puy du Fou, twice awarded as the best park in the world, prepares its landing in Toledo with this night show that covers 1,500 years of events of Spanish culture. The show, which has just won the award for Best Novelty in Spain at the PAC Awards 2019, can be seen until the end of October this year and then again from April 8, 2020.

The show, one and a quarter hours long and with a capacity of 4000 people, is full of performances, dances and battles with great special effects, music, lights, projections and fireworks. All this told in a space of five hectares through which 800 light projectors, 60 water jets and Christie's 28 video projectors are distributed, with a decoration in which walls, a bridge and some Mudejar church reminiscent of Toledo are seen.

The Dream of Toledo is the first night show with which the park being built by the French company Puy du Fou has been inaugurated in the same way as the one it already has in the region of La Vendée, in the west of France. With an investment of 242 million euros, it plans to generate more than 3,300 jobs.

The projectors in question are 28 units of the Christie D20WU-HS model, a 1DLP® laser technology equipment, WUXGA resolution and 20,600 ISO lumens. For El Sueño de Toledo, these projectors have been located in three different air-conditioned projection cabins located in two towers, 90% of them operating in horizontal mode and the other 10% vertically.

The equipment is used to give life to a large-format mapping that is projected on the scenery of the show, which includes buildings, walls, bridges, churches, mills, river, trees, stones ... It is a gigantic stage of five hectares with 3900 square meters of decorations that have been built in less than eight months, and where historical figures of the stature of King Recaredo, Alfonso VI, Alfonso X the Wise, Al Mamún, Isabel la Católica, Christopher Columbus, Emperor Carlos V or Miguel de Cervantes himself parade, among others.

There are 185 actors who, dressed in more than 1200 period costumes, represent these and other figures in the history of Spain, to which are added the 30 horses that participate in the work, all of them white so that they are seen well during the night performances.

The images projected by Christie's teams basically consist of videos and graphic content created especially for this show. The projection area is approximately 1400 square meters, and the native resolution of the projectors (1920x1200) is used, offering a total resolution of 8256 x 2816 pixels (23.25 million pixels).

Some 72,000 people are expected to enjoy El Sueño de Toledo in this first season, which marks the beginning of a larger project that will crystallize in 2021 with the second phase of the Puy du Fou Spain project: the opening of a park of great shows that will make the visitor travel through the history of Spain. It will depart with four great day shows, three historic villages and 30 hectares of nature.
