Latin America. For Casio, 2020 marks the tenth anniversary of the first development of laser and LED light source technology and the market debut of its first LampFree projector without a mercury lamp.
The Japanese company, guided by its creative spirit and contribution to society, focuses on designing products that go further, built for a long service life and prepared for the future from the change of the industry. One of the solutions that summarizes these ideas was the development of projectors that offered the same level of brightness as conventional ones with mercury lamps, but without using such lamps, in addition to being ecological. Thus, Casio presented its first hybrid laser and LED projector in 2010, it was the Green Slim model, a light and compact device, ideal to take from one room to another with great ease.
At the time, the market was saturated with lamp-based projectors that not only used more energy and contained mercury, but lost their luster over time and whose lamps required to be replaced often, even several times a year. So, with the mission of making the projector market cleaner, greener and more sustainable, Casio managed to create a light source for projectors that would not decrease their brightness level, nor would it depend on mercury, an element of high toxicity for the environment and the human being.
Mercury lamps pose a potential risk to the health of users, much more serious in schools and educational institutions if such lamps are accidentally broken or not disposed of properly. That's why, in 2013, 128 countries signed the Minamata intergovernmental agreement in an effort to minimize the use of mercury in industry to protect the environment and public health.
Casio is committed to developing technology for the free projection of mercury lamps, has expanded its family of projectors to offer a wide range of 12 solutions for a variety of applications and shooting distances ranging from 13 cm to nine meters. Casio remains the only manufacturer specialized in lamp-free projection, which allows it to advance in the improvement of its components and equipment, just as it has done since 2010.
Over the first ten years, Casio has marketed more than one million projector units worldwide. In addition, according to Future Source Consulting, Casio is the manufacturer with the largest market share in terms of sales of solid-state light source products in the category of projectors of 2,500 lumens or higher luminosity.
"After 10 years of pioneering LampFree technology, we are celebrating what we have achieved and anticipating finding new ways to continue our mission of bringing lampless technology everywhere," said Claudia Romo, Senior Manager of Casio Mexico's Projector Division.
