The Chilean Videocorp is one of the most recognized audiovisual integration companies in Latin America thanks to a trajectory of almost 4 decades and presence in several countries in the region. It has also decided to be part of ConsorcioTec, the first purchasing group for integrators in Latin America.
AVI LATINOAMÉRICA spoke with Alfonso Vergara, General Manager of Videocorp, who told how the company has faced this time of pandemic and why they decided to join ConsorcioTec.
He recalled that the company was founded in 1983, started as an exclusive representative of Sony Professional and then evolved to what it is today, being present in Colombia, Peru and Chile, and through the participation in the rental company RLA, they also have a presence in Panama and the United States.
His experience is mainly concentrated in 4 segments: the corporate in the implementation of audiovisual rooms and video wall; in electronic security with control rooms, CCTV, Access Control, Voceo, etc. In Broadcast in Chile they work with different brands among which Sony, Vzrt, Evertz, Live U and BMD stand out. In addition to their distribution area, in which they work with some brands exclusively in Chile and Peru.
Contactless solutions for Covid-19
Alfonso Vergara stressed that in the countries where they have a presence, before the Covid-19 emergency, the industry grew by around 10% per year, with relevant technological changes, but in this 2020 it will be different.
"It is very strong, unfortunately there will be actors on the road, you have to reinvent yourself, be imaginative, but it is an industry that has a lot to say in the pandemic. Contactless solutions are part of the answer and so many other things," he said.
And that is precisely one of the reasons why he decided to join ConsorcioTec. He stressed that "mainly because of trust. I know the people behind them and we think they have great experience in audiovisual. Today you have to reinvent yourself and do different things and one of them is to belong to this group. We hope to achieve visibility, relationship, contact, and knowledge of what is coming and what we are experiencing."
