Christie installs LCD videowall in a company in Ecuador

christieEcuador. One of the largest private companies in Ecuador has just installed in its main auditorium a Christie LCD video wall with the Christie Terra SDVoE system, in what is the first installation of this AV over IP technology in Latin America. The SmartCo integrator has been in charge of the design and implementation of the entire project, from sizing to execution.

The company in question has businesses in multiple sectors, from retail to the real estate market. The videowall has been installed in the new auditorium of the headquarters of the corporation in Quito, with capacity for 48 people and used by its top managers for financial and managerial presentations, videoconferences and training.

"The requirement was to have a very high quality AV system. Being a room used by senior managers of the company, it was necessary that the resolution was clear and that the videowall allowed to easily see small data such as numbers and details in presentations, "explained Pedro Egas, president of SmartCo.

The SmartCo team then proposed LCD technology, specifically 12 monitors of the Christie Extreme Series that form a 4x3 video wall and resolution of 7680 x 3240. "These displays were prescribed because we needed to ensure that the size of the bezel was minimal and that the detail of the data to be projected could be visualized perfectly," Egas said. In that sense, Christie's Extreme Series has an ultra-narrow bezel to bezel width, which makes the separations in the videowalls very discreet.

For the transport and processing of the signals, SmartCo chose Christie Terra. "We chose this SDVoE (Software Defined Video over Ethernet) solution because of the cutting-edge technology that the system represents, which aligns with our customer's vision of innovation. It also influenced its robustness in terms of transmission, since having videoconferences had to ensure that switching between sources was fast, in addition to no delays that complicated communication. "

SmartCo installed 5 Christie Terra Trasmitters, 15 Christie Terra Receivers and 1 Christie Terra Controller to ensure proper operability of all systems.

12 of the Terra Receivers are used to power each of the panels that make up the videowall, thus guaranteeing the best possible resolution of each screen and the complete videowall. Two other Terra Receivers are used to transmit the signals to two Christie SUHD55-L support LCD screens, located on a small lintel at the back of the auditorium, and which serve as reinforcement to the last rows for the most distant spectators, from where other images can also be projected if necessary.

An additional Terra Receiver is used as monitoring if necessary, so that a presenter does not have the need to be turning their backs on the audience when a presentation is made.

As for the Terra Trasmitters, three of them work to transmit physical signals directly from the stage, which are located one to the center and the remaining two one on each side, so that they can have physical connection capacity from any computer from which it is necessary to present.

Another Terra Trasmitter is used for the transmission of the Cisco video conference installed in the auditorium, and an additional one is used for the transmission of a Crestron AirMedia to be able to make presentations wirelessly. Finally, the Terra Controller is the control brain of all the signals of the videowall, from where the operators assign layouts according to the need and transmit the audio.
