Control rooms can be flexible workspaces

salas de control, barcoLatin America. Daily work has demanded the optimization of the decision-making process by collecting, distributing and visualizing the available data at the right time and in the right format, resulting in a digital transformation in your workspace.

Control room professionals know how important the tasks of collecting, distributing and monitoring data are, therefore, having the right information allows them to have a total knowledge of the situation at all times, so that all interested parties can make appropriate decisions.

The control rooms are designed to attend to the emergencies that arise, therefore, they are spaces that need to have the best field of visualization to obtain adequate control of the various situations to effectively manage the information. These monitoring spaces aim at the collection, distribution and supervision of data, since the more information you have, the easier it will be to respond to the crises of the public and private sector.

For the control rooms, it is an indispensable requirement to integrate the best technological solutions, since the operational capacity and improvements in the results are increased, said David Betancourt, Distribution Channel Manager Latam at Barco.

The fundamental piece in the control rooms is the video wall, where the general information is presented through graphics, status descriptions or control panels, however, now operators require a more immediate interaction with the information, so personal workspaces bring with them greater benefit to interact with specific tasks or information systems.

Technological advancement has allowed the generation of workspaces adapted to control rooms, which allows the operator to have all the relevant information at his fingertips, since he can consult and manipulate the data from a single pixel space, with only a mouse and keyboard. In this way, the operator is at the center of the information and can easily access the information, thus acting on the details.

Barco's specialist ensures that control room operators must monitor an increasing number of content sources and applications, therefore, they need:

  • Manage one or more applications in your workspace.
  • Monitor collaborative content on the general screen, such as dashboards, maps, or app overviews.
  • Interact with content sources from other agencies or control rooms.

The control rooms operate to protect the security of various scenarios, for operators to have a solution that allows them to have at their fingertips images, video and data in real time, to be distributed in an agile and safe way to any location, either in the control room, in a crisis room or remotely, it will be the ideal ally to respond to a critical situation.

Finally, David Betancourt, Distribution Channel Manager Latam Clickshare, alludes that "when it comes to video rooms, there is no pattern in the design of the work area, some rooms are large, others small, with video wall and others not, for this reason in Barco we care about responding to the needs of all our customers, to effectively facilitate collaboration and increase productivity. Today there are solutions like OpSpace that offer the possibility to expand your vision and act on the details."
