Latin America. QSC held its Activate Winter 2022, a virtual event in which it presented the latest developments in terms of the company's products. In total, there were 15 new products for the AV/IT market.
Here were some of the releases:
NM Series Desktop Network Microphone and NL Series Network Speakers for Q-SYS Cloud Manageable Control, Video and Audio Platform. Powered by Q-SYS OS, these new products join the recently introduced Q-SYS NC Series conference cameras and Q-SYS TSC Series Gen 3 network touchscreen controllers to provide a full suite of native IP-based Q-SYS collaboration products for DESIGNERS, consultants, integrators, and IT end users.
This release is complemented by the Q-SYS NL Network Speaker series and the Q-SYS call synchronization system.
In addition, the company introduced QIO series network I/O expanders for the Q-SYS cloud-managed control, video and audio platform. These new I/O expanders provide simple and scalable I/O customization for users who need to easily add off-grid audio and control connectivity to a Q-SYS system without complicated programming.
The QIO series includes three audio I/O models and three control I/O models, each supporting a specific type of connectivity. Designed to support distributed, centralized, or hybrid networks and processing architectures, these I/O expanders allow designers to decouple the location of device I/O from audio, video, and control processing. This expands the I/O customization possibilities of the new Q-SYS Core processors that have fewer built-in I/O options, including Core Nano, Core 8 Flex, and NV-32-H (Core Capable). All models feature a compact form factor that can be rack-mounted or surface-mounted.
Audio I/O models feature professional line/microphone level inputs with +48 VDC ghosting power and/or line outputs to ensure high performance and compatibility, along with microphone detection at inputs to enable monitoring, usage statistics, and fault notifications.
• QIO-ML4i: four microphone/line inputs
• QIO-L4o: four line outputs
• QIO-ML2x2: two microphone/line inputs and two line outputs
Control I/O models add IR, serial, or GPIO connectivity to integrate control over a wide variety of devices into any Q-SYS system.
The event also announced Q-SYS Scaling licenses, which allow IT integrators and administrators to extend DSP processing power and application-specific features in Q-SYS Core Nano and Core 8 Flex. By using the flexible software-based architecture of the Q-SYS platform, Q-SYS users can upgrade and customize these Q-SYS cores to meet the changing needs of specific applications and use cases.
They also introduced the AcousticDesign series Direct Weather Landscape (AD-DWL) speakers, which feature a sleek raised bollard enclosure design that allows sound to travel above obstructions while providing a robust, impact-resistant solution for custom outdoor installations, all without compromising sound quality.
The Direct Weather Landscape series includes the AD-DWL.180 speaker (180° directional coverage) and the AD-DWL.360 speaker (360° directional coverage), allowing designers to address individual space requirements by directing sound where it is needed most, while the AD-DWL complementary subwoofer. SUB enriches and expands the low-frequency sound profile. All models feature a tamper-proof base bracket and a subtle green casing to match most landscaping aesthetics, which can also be painted to allow for further customization.
