United States. Samsung recently introduced the Infinity Display, a new videoboard installed in the center of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (California). The Screen, the largest ever created for sports, greeted Super Bowl fans as they entered the court with its unique two-sided design and provided a cutting-edge way to enjoy the game.
Located 37 meters above the playing field, the 6,500-meter oval display features approximately 80 million pixels to enhance the fan experience on the court. Teams on the sidelines and fans in the crowd can watch instant 4K replays, close-up match actions, game stats, interactive updates, and more.
Samsung's advanced technology is enhanced by the largest graphics control system in sports history. Each LED panel can be programmed uniquely or congruently with statistics, live and animated content.
Offering the best viewing angles for fans was one of Samsung's top priorities. Using measurements from the court's architectural drawings and simulating viewing angles on a test screen, Samsung designed the Infinity Display to ensure that all seats offer an excellent view of the videoboard.
The display is also equipped with a state-of-the-art audio system with more than 260 individual JBL by Harman speakers integrated into its structure, which is equivalent to 1,500 home theater systems.
Immersive entertainment for fans
To offer fans and visitors a consistent dynamic experience, Samsung also equipped the court with other innovative solutions, including more than 2,600 large-format displays, ribbon boards – long, thin LED screens mounted on the front of balconies – and audio equipment. It doesn't matter where the fans are, because they won't miss the action on or off the field.
All of SoFi Stadium's large-format displays use HDR10+, making the image quality realistic and full of vibrant colors, as well as sharper contrasts and details. The same can be said for any fan watching the match directly from a Samsung TV or compatible device at home. Thanks to HDR10+ technology, viewers were also able to enjoy the big game from the comfort of their sofa, while still feeling like they were on the court itself.
