International. The Pacific Community (SPC) video conferencing activities are made possible by the implementation of DisplayNote's Launcher on 40 displays in the organization.
This scientific and technical organization is responsible for supervising development in its 26 member countries, from an approach where science and knowledge prevail. For this you need a high quality in your meetings, which for logistical reasons are carried out in online format.
To understand the dimensions of its coverage, it is indicated that it has more than 700 employees at its headquarters in New Caledonia. In addition, it has four regional offices located in the Pacific region and one in Paris. So, as the staff is geographically dispersed, it relies heavily on video conferencing for communication between them and the members.
An international solution
Paefou Panapa, ICT assistant at SPC, described the difficulties they previously had in their meeting rooms: "The setup and customization was complicated, it wasn't clean. When the staff used the space and it came out, it was not ready for the next users, who needed to run, for example, a different platform."
Thus, an intuitive and easy solution was needed. Phill Hardstaff, ICT Operations Manager at SPC, commented: "I wanted people to be able to walk into a room, walk to the screen and no matter what the format of the meeting was. That is, Zoom, Webex, or MS Teams, among others, could simply press a button to have it ready."
Then the answer came from the hand of DisplayNote Launcher, as it met the requirement of agility in connectivity, offering a simple interface to access calls, content and applications, regardless of the videoconferencing system that was being used.
In this way, SPC initiated the application of Launcher to its Avocor E-Series and F-Series screens in June 2020. To date it is used on 40 screens in its meeting rooms.
Panapa said he was lucky to find this solution because he liked the look and timing. They were also able to do a test of which he stressed that he found it "very easy to configure, especially in kiosk mode". Such a mode provides uniformity, while securing meeting rooms across the organization and allowing users to switch between video conferencing tools as needed. This was particularly positive because in SPC they use Microsoft Teams as an internal tool, but for external parties they have implemented Zoom.
Finally, Hardstaff concluded, "We were given a challenge when it came to upgrading our meeting room technology and found the right solution. Our users love the simplicity of Launcher."
