Mexico. Staying fit is a need that for years has contributed to the development of a thriving sports industry in which gyms and clubs of specialized disciplines seek to attract and retain their customers through innovative proposals in which technology plays a fundamental role.
Such is the case of Troop Spin and Studio Velocity, two young spinning clubs in Mexico City that have chosen Bose Professional audio technology to set their exercise rooms on a fixed bicycle with powerful and clear sound.
Music is an indispensable element for the practice of spinning, the mission of Bose – and the respective integrators in charge of the projects – was to turn these spaces designed for the practice of rhythmic exercise, into authentic enclosures dedicated to health, where music and lighting come together to give attendees that injection of adrenaline that keeps them pedaling session after session.
Since in both cases the main stage is the spinning room, each integrator equipped the facilities of the clubs with arrangements of front and rear speakers, with the aim of providing special emphasis to the music in the rear speakers and highlighting the voice of the instructor in the speakers placed in front, with which a uniform dispersion of the sound was achieved with a clear separation between music and voice.
Likewise, ControlSpace® CC-64 controllers were installed so that both instructors and gym staff had the possibility to manage the audio independently in each area, place different music in each room, or make announcements through the system through the use of a conventional microphone or headband type.
Studio Velocity, with a touch of samba
Studio Velocity, a concept born in Brazil and already with a strong presence in Mexico, went to the audiovisual solutions integrator Company Ponle Audio to equip each space of its branch, located in the luxurious Arcos Bosques Shopping Center in Mexico City, with Bose Professional sound systems, including four RoomMatch® Utility RMU208 speakers, four MB4 subwoofers and a pair of configurable power amplifiers of the PowerMatch® PM8500 and PM4250 series.
When facing the challenge of keeping the architectural plan intact with the standards required by the franchise, as well as covering every corner of the property with music, Ponle Audio used an interesting combination of speakers, drivers and amplifiers to give surround and modular sound to each of the areas of Studio Velocity, such as showers, lockers and of course, the indoor cycling lounge equipped with 40 Schwinn bicycles.
"We chose Bose based on the recommendation of the company Ponle Audio. With Bose we have the power, clarity and coverage we longed for. Our customers deeply appreciate it," said Ángel Beltrán, Brand Manager of Studio Velocity.
Troop Spin, flow with music
For its part, Troop Spin, a spinning club located in the growing commercial area of Interlomas to the west of Mexico City, approached the local office of the Spanish company Chemtrol Stage for the design and implementation of a sound system that would make customers "feel" the music.
Attending a class at Troop Spin is like going to a dance club, but instead of the track, the audience moves, sweats and has fun on a stationary bike. A dark room, good mixed music, generous volume levels and the right lighting recreate an atmosphere according to the rhythm of pedaling to generate pure adrenaline. The result is well-being, health and lots of positive energy. According to its director Cecilia Rivera, its motto is "spinning reinvented".
The proposal was to develop the project with the integration of RoomMatch and FreeSpace® speakers for common areas, corridors, showers and cafeteria, PowerMatch amplifiers to give power to the sound in the spinning room, and a set of processors and ControlSpace controllers that would provide flexibility and make the operation of the entire system easier, allowing you to control the music from anywhere.
Two headband microphones were also installed for the instructors, so when prompts are given, the music drops in volume for attendees to listen without needing to shout. FreeSpace® speakers were located in the locker area and with the Bose ControlSpace® processor the two zones are managed independently. The whole system is very simple to operate, so trainers only have to press a few keys to activate the audio source and turn the volume knob.
"What Troop Spin asked us to do was 'feel' the music, so we achieved that with Bose's RoomMatch speakers," says Manoli Delgado, project manager at Chemtrol Stage Mexico.
In this new generation of high-end spinning rooms, the music and energy that flows in each session is as important as the exercise equipment itself. That is why customers and integrators see Bose Professional as the ideal ally to build a powerful, intelligible, modular and durable sound system that meets the needs and demands of users accustomed to the best.
