Mexico. In preparation for the next InfoComm Mexico 2019, to be held from August 14 to 16 at the WTC Mexico City, its organizers present an overview of the audiovisual experience integration industry, which allows a better understanding of the value of the global and local market, as well as its main user sectors, the most demanded applications and the trends that are observed for the near future.
InfoComm Mexico 2019, is the exhibition and congress of integrated multimedia technology, which brings together equipment manufacturers and service providers with professionals of the integration of AV solutions, consultants and end users. The event is organized by the publisher specialized in technology, Latin Press and the international association AVIXA (Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association), producer of InfoComm exhibitions around the world and co-owner of ISE in Europe.
What are integrated audiovisual experiences?
Professionals in the audiovisual solutions integration industry use different technological tools (screens, cameras, speakers, software, control and automation systems, networks and a wide etcetera) to create integrated experiences that help communicate, inform and entertain people in the different areas of their daily lives.
From the different multimedia options that a passenger has to know the status of their flight in an airport or the ease of choosing and ordering a hamburger in the digital menu of a restaurant, to the possibility of interaction that a student lives during a distance education class; all of them are examples of the integrated experiences that this industry develops by combining technology with consulting, design, creativity and installation services.
The industry in Mexico and the world
According to AVIXA figures, obtained from its IOTA 2019 study (AV Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis), which presents a complete overview of the audiovisual industry, for this 2019 it is expected that investment in this industry worldwide will reach 246.5 billion dollars, with an annual growth rate of 5.87% until 2024.
The regions with the highest investment will be Asia, with 36.8%, and North America, with 30.9% of the total. While Latin America will represent 5.1% of the industry worldwide with an approximate investment amount of 12,800 million dollars. The two countries with the highest participation will be Mexico with 2,800 million dollars and Brazil with 4,500 million dollars. In both cases, being developing markets, its annual growth rate to 2024 is expected to be 6.04%.
In Latin America, the main business sectors that invest in audiovisual integration solutions are led by corporate, with 21.3% of the total, followed by media and entertainment companies with 15.9%, and venues, producers and event organizers, whose investment represents 14.1% of the market.
Companies in the retail sector contribute 9.0% of the investment, while educational institutions account for 8.0% and the residential sector 5.1%, which is a sample of the business opportunities that the audiovisual industry has, because in one way or another, all sectors can benefit from its developments.
As for the most demanded audiovisual integration solutions in Latin American countries, the AVIXA study indicates that the projects of conference rooms and collaboration spaces represent 15.6% of the investment, a logical percentage when recalling the participation of the corporate sector.
Audiovisual solutions focused on staff training and education generate 13.4% of investments. On the other hand, digital signage projects, for information in public spaces or for advertising purposes in streets or shopping centers, constitute 13.8%; followed by content distribution applications with 11.7%, and 10.8% of the investment destined to the technology for the production of live events.
Trends observed in the short term
In terms of trends, the AVIXA study anticipates a growth in the use of large LED screens in cinemas, as it is a very advanced technology that offers great performance and a low maintenance cost.
The use of voice assistants in the corporate sector is another trend that seems to be gaining strength. Its acceptance in the residential market will facilitate its use in work environments and will allow anyone to operate videoconferencing, audio, lighting and air conditioning systems without having technical knowledge, as a few words will be enough to live the experience of a multimedia meeting.
