Latin America. Automation or home automation has gained strength in recent years around the world. It is estimated that this technological implementation can reduce, by 30%, the energy expenditure of the home, so it has been an innovation very longed for by a large number of people. Brands like MediaTek see this home automation as an opportunity to improve people's lifestyles.
In fact, Alexander Rojas, BD Corporate & Sales of MediaTek Latam, states that "MediaTek together with its different business partners has enabled ecosystems to automate the home in different ways: Amazon smart speakers, TVs, Wifi-7, etc. What you want is to be able to control the home with simple commands, but under a high level of cybersecurity."
Transparency or ease, as Rojas says, is a fundamental pillar of the brand to meet its users. The idea of MediaTek for this automation is precisely to be able to integrate everything in a simpler way without the user worrying about installation or technical issues, but only to enjoy each device in the home.
What are the advantages?
The first and according to the expert is that connectivity would be universal, because a computer, a television, speakers, lights, windows, the refrigerator and many more devices, would be connected to each other to be manipulated from a single place or device, all this thanks to MediaTek chipsets. How does this work? because the brand provides different chipsets ranging from WiFi to Bluetooth and all use the same language, so the integration of these devices is much simpler. As there are automation protocols and security, the implementation of this becomes more affordable and desired by users.
Another advantage, and well above MediaTek's competition is the entire Artificial Intelligence (AI) part. "All the routines that MediaTek AI has are reflected in different devices, and in this way this technology complements very well with the universality of the connections that MediaTek allows to make in the home." Within the spectrum of options that exist to implement this technology at home, MediaTek takes the lead with a very wide capacity for wireless connectivity, differentiating itself from the competition.
And is Latam ready for this?
Although in Latin America these concepts are constantly growing and developing, a complete implementation is not yet seen. However, MediaTek has already been accompanying this growth through a simple process: establishing these new technologies (WiFi 7, 5G and BT 5.3) in the devices sold in the regional market. This means that when these networks are enabled in Latin America, users will already have immediate access to them due to the optimization of their devices that are already sold today.
Home automation has different forms of connection, as each has a different objective such as BT 5.3, making gadgets more transparent in their wireless processes, or WiFi 7 allows an even faster connection. It is expected that in 2023 these technologies will already be acquired in the country.
For his part, Rojas from MediaTek recommends "taking advantage of the latest advances and technological developments when using state-of-the-art devices such as speakers and routers to anticipate these new technologies so that, when they arrive, everything is ready to improve the quality of life of people".
