Barco bets on greener hybrid meetings

barco

Latin America. When equipping a meeting room that will be for hybrid work, there are many things to consider. Among others: its practicality, efficiency and, above all, safety. But it is also extremely important today to consider its sustainability.

How can we ensure that the options chosen for hybrid meetings are environmentally friendly? Choosing future-proof tools that reflect your company's sustainability values in all aspects of the workplace and, of course, also in your meeting room technology.

ClickShare takes care of making your wireless presentations and conferences smooth and environmentally friendly at the same time. All Barco ClickShare devices are designed in an environmentally friendly way, continuously looking for ways to improve energy efficiency, using durable materials, renewable packaging and extending the life of our products.

"Since the launch of the ClickShare Conference we have made significant improvements across the board. That is why all our products, without exception, now receive an A label in Barco's ECO score," said Rodrigo Cornejo Avendaño, Country Manager Mexico & Director of LATAM Channels at Barco.

Use of materials
We pay close attention to the materials used in our products: we choose paint-free plastics and opt for halogen-free PCBs whenever possible. We also focus on the use of recycled materials: all our manuals are printed on recycled paper, but also the products themselves use recycled materials. From button to tray: each component uses up to 30% recycled materials.

Energy efficiency
All ClickShare products are optimized for energy efficiency. "Our base units meet the strictest requirements for standby mode: it won't eat up your electricity bill, which also reduces emissions," added Cornejo Avendaño.

Packing
Packaging is probably the least exciting thing about acquiring new technology for meeting rooms: it is thrown away quickly and plastic containers end up polluting the ocean. That's why ClickShare now uses sugarcane packaging. Sugarcane is a renewable resource: it is fully recyclable and can be reused several times. In addition, it is biodegradable in a matter of months, so it does not contribute to pollution or waste. We also strive to make our packaging as light as possible and our shipments are made by ship, which reduces shipping costs and the carbon footprint of our products.

Designing to recycle
From the beginning, already in the design phase, we keep in mind the end of the useful life of a product. We ensure that all parts of our products can be easily disassembled, making them easy to recycle. In addition, we offer a ClickShare redemption program where you can return your old ClickShare solution in exchange for a great discount on your new device. You don't have to worry about recycling: we take care of it. We make sure that all materials are reused or recycled correctly while you are already enjoying your new ClickShare device.

"Our Product and Design team continually evaluates the environmental impact of our products and looks for ways to make them even better, both for our customers and for the planet. Barco's ECO score is a very useful objective tool for customers to track the sustainability of our products. It also ensures that we continue to strive to make green choices when designing new products," concluded Rodrigo Cornejo Avendaño.
