International. Transom Capital Group, an investment group that recently acquired Bose Professional, has appointed John Maier as CEO of the newly independent company.
"John is a seasoned and successful executive in the professional audio industry and it's great to have him join the Bose Professional team," said Russ Roenick, Managing Partner at Transom Capital. "We've known John for over 10 years and have witnessed how he grew Blue Microphones from a small professional microphone company to a global professional and consumer electronics brand. It also helped us transform Loud Audio from a collection of disjointed brands to the now thriving Mackie."
"I'm thrilled to join the team on the new Bose Professional," said Maier. "I have been a user, salesperson and generally admirer of the business and products since the beginning of my career, and I see a great future ahead. I am in the ideal position to know the brand and the market well, while bringing the perspective of a person who was outside the company. My desire is to help Bose Professional and Transom achieve all of their goals."
In recent years, Maier served as Transom's operating partner, overseeing businesses such as Mackie. Prior to that, Maier was CEO of Blue Microphones, a company dedicated to the design of award-winning and critically acclaimed microphones, headphones and accessories. He helped leverage the company's heritage in professional recording studios to introduce it to the consumer electronics industry and increased the company's tenfold growth during his tenure, until it was eventually sold to Logitech.
Prior to Blue Microphones, Maier was CEO of TC Group Americas, where he helped the Danish company create brands such as Tannoy, LabGruppen, TC Electronic and Lake, tripling the company's revenue. Prior to TC, Maier held various management positions in the audio industry, at companies such as Alesis, Guitar Center and Sound Marketing. He is one of the select few who has led companies included in the "Inc. Magazine" list "Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies" for ten consecutive years.
Maier holds a Bachelor of Arts and MBA from California Lutheran University, and throughout his career has served on the board of trustees or advisors to many for-profit and non-profit organizations.
