Eco-Friendly LED Screens Drive Sustainability

Pantallas LED ecológicas

Mexico. Today, it is a social responsibility for every organization to minimize its carbon footprint and other negative environmental impacts. At Hikvision, this commitment is central to their Environmental, Social and Governance Strategy, by optimizing the way they operate and develop new technologies and products to help everyone, from customers to partners, work together to make the most of resources and minimize the impact on the environment.

Sergio Souza, Head of Commercial Display for Hikvision Mexico, says the firm carefully considers environmental impact and is putting sustainability at the center of its business operations and product development strategies. An example of this, he says, is the latest generation of LED displays, which use state-of-the-art technology to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%*, extend the product lifecycle and help reduce carbon emissions at different stages of product development and business operations, from materials and design choices to green manufacturing and low-carbon practices in office parks.

"With an unwavering determination to increase the energy efficiency and sustainability of all our products, we at Hikvision will continue to innovate our LED displays to achieve even greener operations and even better performance."

Another clear example of Hikvision's concern for the environment is the optimization of the efficiency and sustainability of our products, from initial design to manufacturing and delivery to installers and end customers. This is the result of its LED product range, which reduces energy consumption and total carbon emissions by up to 50%*.

Innovating to make LED screens greener
Hikvision has implemented a number of notable technological innovations to make its LED screens more environmentally friendly, including:

1) Flip-Chip CoB (built-in chip) technology to increase display efficiency: This eliminates the need to attach the chip's wires to the printed circuit board, allowing the LED panels to be attached directly to the base. This approach eliminates the cable connecting the light path to the display and supports chip-level spacing of LEDs on the display, maximizing image brightness and resolution. More importantly, by eliminating cable links with Flip-Chip CoB, you increase the energy efficiency of Hikvision displays for greener operation. At the same time, the temperature of the display is reduced by 5 to 10 degrees*, which mitigates the risk of damaging the LED beads, thus increasing the life of the product.

2) Common Cathode Technology to Reduce Power Consumption: This technology allows a single system to supply the correct voltage to power the red, green, and blue LED light beads. Because red pearls require a lower voltage, this technology allows energy consumption to be reduced by up to 50%* compared to traditional power supply systems. It also means that the screens run cooler, maximising their durability and therefore sustainability.

3) PixMaster algorithm to precisely adjust LED display brightness: which uses pixel-level analysis to recognize what kind of content is displayed on an LED screen in real-time and properly adjust brightness, contrast, and other essential parameters. This improves the viewing experience, but more importantly, it also reduces energy consumption and associated emissions.

4) Aluminum Enclosures to Maximize Heat Dissipation: These enclose and protect Hikvision screens from all elements thanks to silicone grease and heat sinks that maximize heat dispersion. As a result, the enclosure operates without air conditioning below 60°C*, greatly reducing the energy use and emissions of the entire LED system.
