Chile. The National Data Center Plan is a strategy of the Pro Growth and Employment Cabinet that seeks to turn Chile into a benchmark in digital infrastructure.
This was highlighted by the Minister of Science Aisén Etcheverry, at the launch of the Plan, where she reaffirmed that technological development is key to the country's economic growth, always based on principles of sustainability, equity and territorial collaboration.
"There are more than 4 billion dollars in projected investment (in data centers) that we want to materialize in our country. And we discovered that it is not only a technological industry, but also incorporates technology to meet its decarbonisation and water footprint reduction objectives, to be more efficient. It is also an industry that helps other industries to digitize, and that is why the multiplier effect of investing in this area is essential," Aisén Etcheverry, Minister of Science.
And to achieve the objectives of the plan, it will seek to position Chile as an attractive investment destination for the Data Center industry, strengthening the growth of a data-based economy, where new technologies are developed that allow processing and using large volumes of information.
