The technological evolution that has been presented in communications has led to the appearance of new storage methods such as flexible discs, hard disks, CD-ROM discs, DVDs and USB cards and discs. However, some new media are not as useful as expected, as they can cause the quality of the files to be lost when performing compression as it happens with virtual hard disks, since they are based on the network as a means of transmitting information.
It is worth noting that the needs of customers and users have caused these changes to occur and as such that these developments obtain more importance within the industry. Some of these needs translate into the transport of files, the agility that is required in bars and theaters, and the security that is required for the protection of these media, because at this time hackers can carry out their attacks on any computer.
Currently, the DVD is the most implemented system to preserve information because it allows access to data, either from a computer or a reader, in addition to being a disc that can be easily transported. Also, some customers prefer tapes to be used to save data in formats such as Betacam SP, Digital Betacam and DVC PRO HD.
These storage media simplify the processes of management, storage and protection of audiovisual data, as well as allow, as mentioned above, greater agility when managing information (video clips, soundtracks) and transmitting it in spaces such as bars, restaurants, nightclubs, auditoriums or theaters.
Likewise, in these places there is the need to find information at a given time and often finding it in the multimedia files is something wasteful, for this reason the market is leaning towards digital personal servers that present the information that characterizes each file so that the user can manipulate them from anywhere. These devices make it possible to add information in different ways, search and select files quickly, and support the selection of multiple files or disks simultaneously.
The future of this storage service is promising, although the production companies offer it momentarily as an added value for end users to manipulate their contents as they wish. However, we must wait to see how this market segment evolves with the entry of blue-ray as a storage and reproduction standard.
