From this agreement, the first AVB (Audio Video Bridge) switches for multichannel audio and video in network will be launched on standardized Ethernet. The announcement involves the immediate introduction of a pair of 16- and 24-port switches with specialized AVB hardware and software to be used in a wide range of fixed-installation audio-video applications. Standardized multi-channel audio and video over Ethernet offer professionals and their customers considerable savings in complex AV systems, while enabling integration, ease of use, functionality and system control.
Robert Urry, Chief Technology Officer, Harman Professional, said, "We are pleased to be working with NETGEAR as an industry leader in being the first to launch an AVB-enabled switch."
