United States. Lutron Electronics installed for NASA an electric and natural light system in the space center that will reduce the energy consumption of the space complex by up to 60%. This is how this institution seeks to reduce carbon emissions in a place where space thrusters are managed and maintained.
Lutron installed wall-mounted wireless controls, electronic ballasts for digital light addressing, presence/vacancy sensors, and daylight sensors, among others.
"Many of the walls of NASA's downtown offices are solid glass, so installing wireless wall controls was the perfect solution to maximize the use of natural light available at all times," said Andy Wakefield, Lutron's director of business development for government.
NASA implemented this lighting system in order to meet the Platinum standard of LEED Certification in a center considered one of the greenest of the government agency for space programs.
