International. The digital signage system implemented by the company X2O Media at West Virginia University, United States, was recognized with the 2011 Digi award in the category "Best Implementation and Integration of Digital Signage and Mobile/Cellular Technology".
X2O Media's Powered by Xpresenter software allows you to cross the university campus with the digital signage network, incorporating features of social networks and technologies such as Twitter and QR codes to encourage student participation and interaction with screens that use mobile devices.
The system is designed to provide timely content to nearly 29,000 students and 7,900 faculty about events, campus news, sports, among others.
In addition, it allows users to use their smartphones and other mobile devices to interact with digital signage in real time through apps such as Wiffiti, Foursquare, Polls, and Jumbli.
"In selecting The Digi Winners this year, we wanted to highlight X2O Media's work, which demonstrates the importance of using mobile devices and social media to increase the effectiveness of a digital signage network," said David Keene, chair of the Digi Awards Judging Committee.
