International. Despite the economic crisis that Spain is going through, the decorative lighting sector reported a 24% growth in exports during the first four months of this year, compared to the same period in 2011.
According to the report, released by the Federation of Associations of Industrialists and Exporters of Decorative Lighting Fixtures, Fedai-dec, exports grew despite the fact that the main purchasing countries also face difficulties, and while domestic consumption decreased.
This situation, said Antonio Almerich, president of the Federation, shows the path they must follow to turn the crisis into a development opportunity for companies and industry in general.
The executive recalled that the balance of 2011 in terms of exports was a growth of 17.8% in decoration lighting, which indicates that if the trend of the first months of this year continues, growth would be higher despite the economic situation.
The main markets to which Spain exports decorative lighting and which showed significant growth are: Italy with a growth of 66.29%, Germany with 27.85% and France with 6.20%. Fedai-dec pointed out that the only country in which they had a decrease was Portugal.
But not only in traditional markets are the hopes of growth of the industry, because in exports the Asian market has been gaining strength. During 2011 China had a growth of 94.6% compared to 2012 and for this year the growing trend continues.
