International. The difficult economic situation that Spain is going through, and most countries in Europe, has led to a reduction in sales of the lighting industry, which at the end of this year could reach 10%.
These are the forecasts of the Spanish Association of Lighting Manufacturers, Anfalum, which was based on the data recorded by the industry during the first half of this year, the data of the general economy and the official forecasts.
One of the main factors that will mark down the sales of the lighting industry in 2012, is the decrease in economic activity in related sectors, such as the constriction and general consumption of Spaniards.
The association's estimate is that the turnover of the lighting industry in Spain would reach 1,220 million euros this year, following a constant fall since 2007, when it invoiced 1,900 million euros. He also recalled that in 2011 it invoiced 1,358 million euros and in 2010 it reached 1,410 million euros.
On the sales of Spanish LED lighting products, for interior and exterior, Afalum estimates that it will close the year in growth, going from 129 million euros in 2011 to 146 million euros at the end of this year.
Finally, he pointed out that exports will grow by only 0.1% in 2012.
