Sony to separate its audio and video businesses

International. As part of its business restructuring plan, Sony announced that from next October it will create a subsidiary that will be responsible for the production of audio and video equipment.

Following this decision, the company expects to improve its financial performance in a plan designed to be executed over three years, during which time it is expected to have a financial return of more than 10%.

As part of this restructuring, which began in 2011 when kazuo Hirai assumed  the presidency of the company, in 2014 he spun off the TV manufacturing division. But these will not be the only ones. As announced by sony executives, the spin-off of other divisions is being prepared.

Growth plans for the coming years are focused on the segments of devices (semiconductors, batteries or data recording systems), video games and network services, cinema and music, through capital investment that seeks to generate sales and profit growth.

The company forecasts an operating loss of 40 million yen for the current year.
