Mexico. Barco has become the first company to deploy a high-brightness laser digital cinema projector in Latin America, with the recent acquisition by Cinépolis, the largest cinema chain in the region and the fourth largest in the world.
Cinépolis chose Barco DP4K-60L laser projector for its image quality and technology. Barco has been the exclusive supplier of xenon DLP Cinema projectors for theatres since 2011, becoming a trusted partner for Cinépolis and its expansion on three continents.
The laser projector is installed in the brand's new complex, Cinépolis Parque Toreo in Mexico City, which has 13 screens in total, initiating a series of new concepts and all equipped with Barco projectors (laser and xenon).
"We are delighted to be pioneers in high-brightness laser projection in the Latin American film market, which is in line with our mission to offer an exclusive family-oriented environment, to enjoy our guests in an intimate experience," commented Gabriel Morales, Chief Technology Officer of Cinépolis.
As Cinépolis grows its premium cinema footprint, it keeps a special focus on the latest digital technologies. "The DP4K-60L became the most logical choice for high-end projection, based on its ability to outperform other models, showing 4K content at 60fps and 3D movies in full 4K resolution," added Ivan Cannau, Vice President of Barco Latin America.
Barco continues to demonstrate strong support for the Latin American film market, providing on-site technical support 24/7/365 through local equipment and services, with parts conveniently available at eight locations in the region. In addition, Barco's facility for training and certification of advanced services are available in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Mexico City, Mexico; and Sacramento, California.
