International. Since 1970, the Juno Awards have become the main recognition of music in Canada. In its last version, Sennheiser was in charge of providing the sound for the event and the television broadcast, which reached 1.6 million viewers in Canada alone.
The awards were presented by Jacob Hoggard, vocalist of the pop-rock group Hedley, who use Sennheiser products. Hedley was honored with three nominations including "Album of the Year" for Wild Life. Hoggard used the SKM 2000 handheld transmitter and MMD 935 capsule throughout the ceremony, including the live performance with his band, Hedley.
The audio system maker said several of the artists awarded that night also use its systems, such as The Weekend, which picked up the "Artist of the Year" and "R&B/Soul Album of the Year" awards . Singer Abel Tesfaye surprised audiences live and on television with a stunning rendition of the box office hit Earned It Fifty Shades of Grey, captured in immaculate detail through his Sennheiser SKM 5200 that was customized in gray camouflage which was paired with the MD 5235 capsule.
From Mark Vreeken's point of view as the lead mixing engineer at the 2015 Juno Awards, the key to putting on a great show is ensuring top-notch audio quality and reliability. "There are many variables in a live TV show, and Sennheiser's microphones and wireless systems help make predictability," he said.
