InfoComm. 2014 was a good year for Epson in Latin America. The company had a growth of 17% in the number of projectors sold, especially in the high-brightness equipment on which it has focused for five years.
Juan Campos, Epson's product manager for Latin America, commented that "the 17% growth in units sold was helped by the World Cup. But the greatest growth has been in projectors of more than four thousand lumens and interactive, we are bringing attractive proposals to the market and customers have received it in a very good way. It also helped that Epson opened its factory in Brazil that year which allows the product to be covered with specifications and regulations for this market."
But that positive outlook for 2014 is not the same in 2015. The Epson executive indicated that this is a year of challenges. "The Latin American market is a bit contracted by exchange rate and political situations, but we know that the region constantly has these ups and downs and we expect that in six months the region will be recovered, so we will continue to invest in this market."
On the development of new products within the company, Juan Campos commented that these arise from maintaining constant communication with customers, who tell what their needs are and thus be able to meet them.
"That has been part of Epson's success, that we don't launch products to see how the market receives them, they are the result of constant communication with customers. Right at InfoComm we have met with seven large companies in the region to learn about their needs."
Currently, the markets of large auditoriums, meeting rooms, education, are the markets in which Epson has set its growth expectations, without neglecting the other markets. And for each segment they have specific products.
