Latin America. Sometimes it is necessary to reinvent the wheel. Following this maxim, Sennheiser has launched SpeechLine Digital Wireless, the world's first digital wireless microphone designed exclusively for voice applications.
During the development process, Sennheiser consulted users, technicians and integrators, conducted its own research and applied its extensive audio expertise to the design of a completely new system that combines the key requirements of wireless voice microphones: SpeechLine Digital Wireless.
"Our goal was to launch the first microphone optimally designed for voice and public speaking," explained Kai Tossing, portfolio manager at Sennheiser Business Communication. So, we wanted to know exactly which features are the most important, not only for users, but also for technicians and decision makers, and we had to figure out what their needs are when it comes to voice applications."
Sennheiser specialists worked closely with the discussion groups and carried out intensive research. They determined that the most important requirements in microphone technology for voice applications is that it be easy to install and handle, have a high level of reliability and advanced technology.
Installation, operation and adjustment are easier than those of any other microphone. Once the microphone has been set up, users do not need to have any audio knowledge. This allows the user to focus entirely on their speech during meetings, conferences or presentations instead of having to worry about the microphone.
The microphone also makes the technician's job easier during the setup process. SpeechLine Digital Wireless has a feature that automatically searches for free frequencies on-site, thus eliminating frequency planning in advance saving a lot of time.
Built-in audio level management automatically adapts the system to the application scenario and user. As a result, the system ensures the intelligibility of speech at all times. What's more, network integration makes it possible to control and monitor the status of the system at any time using the special application "Wireless System Remote" (WSR), AMX or Crestron - for example, to show the current reception quality or the state of charge of the battery.
In order to ensure stable, high-quality wireless transmission at all times during a speech or presentation, the developers of Sennheiser have placed great importance on reliability. If wireless transmission is altered, automatic interference management switches to a free alternate frequency.
The lithium-ion batteries used in SpeechLine Digital Wireless provide an autonomy of more than 15 hours. In addition to the various charging possibilities, the battery can also be recharged via USB, if necessary. Optimal speech intelligibility is guaranteed at all times by different selectable sound profiles and sound processing algorithms, such as presets for low male voices or high-pitched female voices.
Equipped for the future
Thanks to the advanced "Advanced 256-bit AES Encryption" system, users can benefit from wireless communication at any time with maximum security. The system operates in the license-exempt 1.9 GHz frequency band and does not require registration.
SpeechLine Digital Wireless is available as a handheld set (with MME865 capsule), Lavalier set with MKE1 or as a headset set with SL HEADMIC1. All three include mobile transmitters (handheld or bodypack), speech-optimized microphone capsules (condenser capsules, lavalier or headband microphone), and a fixed receiver for easy integration.
