Latin America. The companies Dedrone and Axis Communications launched a technology capable of detecting the use of drones for criminal purposes, such as obtaining industrial secrets, delivering objects to inmates and violating privacy. The demonstration, held in October at Axis' South American headquarters, marked the innovative use of surveillance cameras to identify a drone approaching a commercial building, in combination with DroneTracker technology.
The DroneTracker software uses radio frequency (RF) and Wi-Fi sensors to detect the presence of drones in the vicinity, in addition to being able to identify the exact point from where it is being controlled by the pilot. This allows you to discover who is controlling the team and what their intentions are. The software also uses Axis monitoring cameras to detect and visualize the drone in high definition and track its movements within the airspace, generating a visual record of everything that happened.
From a technological point of view, drones can fly controlled by a pilot, using radio frequency detected by Dedrone's sensor, or autonomously through GPS coordinates. In the latter case, Axis' own cameras detect the presence and generate alerts that appear at the same time even on mobile devices, such as the Apple Watch.
Over time, the technology stays up to date. This is because DroneTracker is a machine learning platform, which allows Dedrone to continuously update the software and ensure that its verification resources are effective in finding all threats. When an unauthorized drone enters the protected airspace, DroneTracker automatically sends an alert and can trigger a protective measure.
"Today, it is not enough to protect the perimeter of a school, a prison or a condominium with walls and cameras, something that Axis already does with excellence. Airspace has become vulnerable to the presence of drones, and perimeter protection must be expanded to a three-dimensional range," explains Paulo Santos, Solutions Manager at Axis Communications.

Dedrone developed the world's first software to detect drones. Robson Augusto, sales manager for Latin America at the company, pointed out what this technology demonstrates. "Dedrone partnered with Axis to ensure our customers can access the best sensors and combine them with software that is a world leader in drone detection."
In Latin America, Dedrone is represented by TechShield, which inaugurated this market at a regional level. "Techshield is a pioneer in airspace protection, including the prevention of cyber attacks (cybersecurity), risks that increase exponentially with the growth of the presence of drones," warns Gustavo Vicentini, CEO of TechShield.
