Uruguay. ViewSonic was part of an innovative video surveillance and facial recognition system that was installed in the main football stadiums of Montevideo, Uruguay. The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), along with the main football clubs, Club Atlético Peñarol and Club Nacional de Football, hired technology integration firm, H&O, to execute this large-scale project.
In order to meet the needs and guidelines outlined by the AUF, H&O installed an access control system by facial recognition and a video surveillance system of the stands, composed of cameras for access and surveillance, and VX2475SHML-4K and VA2407H monitors, to control in a non-invasive way the problem of security and violence existing in the main football stadiums of Montevideo. In this way, the monitoring center was implemented that was equipped with viewSonic screens for specific identification and general monitoring of the cameras.
The main objective for H&O was to look for teams with the best possible solution at a reasonable cost and that would work consistently to make the implemented system sound. The monitors they sought had to meet the following specifications: HDMI connectivity, VESA support, good image quality, adequate resolution, and durability.
"To find an alternative to the difficulties we were having, we sought to implement a robust and efficient solution that involved the combination of high-fidelity surveillance cameras, facial recognition software and monitoring centers. After having installed this solution (with ViewSonic equipment) we are very happy with the results since we have experienced a significant reduction in incidents," said Ignacio Alonso, AUF Executive Council.
Ricardo Lenti, Managing Director for Latin America at ViewSonic, commented: "For us it is a great honour to have been part of this important and innovative project. We work hard and together with our clients to offer them the best solutions that meet their objectives. One of the main focuses of the company is to enter the video surveillance sector and with this project we have opened the doors. ViewSonic monitors have worked very well with the other components of the project: facial recognition, recording and storage handling, and cameras. There are even plans to implement this system in other stadiums in Uruguay and in other Latin American countries."
