Collaboration tools: hybrid systems on the rise

Latin America. When as users we turn on the TV we do not ask ourselves how we receive the signal: via terrestrial, via satellite, if it is analog, digital, on demand... We just hope that it will allow us to watch our favorite show whenever we want and with the best possible quality.

Something similar happens to us as users of the different collaboration tools, increasingly common in companies, who need their professionals to be connected from anywhere in the world.

But as with other media, responding to user expectations requires significant prior work on technology development and deployment.

The increase in the use of videoconferencing as a collaboration tool is a fact. We are digital, but we like face-to-face communication. As users we want that communication to occur quickly, without interruptions, without latencies, with the highest quality.

Until not so long ago, all videoconferencing solutions were based on their own infrastructure. Proprietary servers guarantee quality in the broadest sense of the word, but require a very good network connection and quality terminals. Among its drawbacks, when the demand is excessively high, connection and quality problems occur, which especially affects distributed organizations, since users further away from the servers have greater connection problems.

The solution to these availability needs has come from the hand of cloud services. In this case the drawback derives from broadband consumption on the way from information to the cloud and vice versa.

But, as I said, users want to share, communicate, regardless of the system on which it is supported. That is why hybrid solutions have begun to appear on the market, equipped with intelligence, capable of deciding, without user intervention, when the situation requires communication through their own infrastructure and when it is better to opt for the cloud. Even proposals that combine videoconferencing and web conferencing solutions are coming to the market.

A whole world of possibilities for workers in the digital world.
