International. The New York Center for the Performing Arts underwent a renovation process that has transformed an iconic venue into a premium destination for world-class drama and musical performances, thanks to its new sound system.
Designed by Augie J Propersi in partnership with Scott Lehrer and acoustic consultancy Kierkegaard Associates, the new audio system was based on a studio whereby they decided that TiMax2 SoundHub was the global system processor to provide routing, equalization and zone management plus the innovative localization audio capabilities of its automatic matrix delay dynamics.
TiMax can handle a wide range of connections: analog I/O, AES, MADI. In this way it was achieved that the audio chain of the NYCC theater was not altered dramatically, but the existing installation had to be updated, addressing the effect of the physical changes of the renovation.
The system includes a compact Studer Vista 5 console, which offers 42 channels of digital mixing and links via AES with 48 inputs/outputs in the TiMax2 SoundHub matrix. The d&b speaker system, ranging from J12s and B2S via Ci6s and C7, E0s, E3, E8s and E12s, to Q1s and Q-Subs, which are powered by D6 and D12 amplifiers powered via TiMax AES connections.
The TiMax2 SoundHub unit is controlled via a dedicated multi-client system network of four Win7 computers connected to a four-user KVM system on the mixer, room amplifier, RF table, and sound technical design table, with additional wireless laptop and iPad support.
