Latin America. To help exhibitors complete the theater attendee experience, Christie launched its new Vive Audio system, which leverages a unique boxed linear matrix speaker design and ribbon driver technology, and combines it with the first-time use in cinema of efficient, high-power Class D amplification.
Christie Vive Audio speakers and amplifiers can be easily and effectively integrated into any existing or newly built movie theater for the ultimate cinema viewing and listening experience.
"Although since 2005 the introduction of digital technology has triggered huge changes in film content, many cinemas still use audio systems designed for 35mm films. With the new system, we have found a way to take full advantage of the linear matrix configuration and place it in a cinematic environment," said Craig Sholder, vice president of Christie's Entertainment Solutions unit.
The complete Christie solution consists of front-facing surround speakers, subwoofers and Class D amplifiers. It offers exhibitors the opportunity to present the public with an unparalleled experience in watching movies, surrounding them with dynamic, detail-rich and enhanced sound, so that the language, special effects, music and alternative content sound more natural and vivid.
This design allows the optimal listening area to be increased up to four times compared to conventional audio systems based on compression speakers, resulting in exceptionally fluid and uniform sound coverage throughout the room. In addition, Christie's Class D amplifiers, which are more compatible with digital sources, are more efficient, reducing operating costs.
