Latin America. The new lighting controller presented by the Siemens company: the knx – DALI N141/31 dual gateway, a product highlighted as a breakthrough in the field thanks to the fact that it allows to minimize the wiring used by a single communication bus for luminaires and sensors.
How do you do that? The equipment is equipped with two independent Dali outputs, which have the capacity to connect up to 128 ballasts, along with 20 presence sensors or pushbutton interface, all between both outputs. In this way, the functions of the KNX system, which allows other monitoring systems to be integrated, are still preserved.
In total, there are three operating modes offered by the new system: non-communication mode, direct and transmission, which allow the ballasts to be handled in the event of a failure in the KNX system. It is also characterized by reducing installation costs by decreasing the number of control elements.
With this control system, a 50% reduction in the number of gateways used for an installation is achieved. It also has a system that allows to collect and guide the solutions of the possible errors that arise and that can be corrected manually in each of the channels independently.
In addition, Siemens developed two applications that allow the conversion of old gateways easily, as well as another to import data after programming.
