CES 2016. Sennheiser unveiled a strategic focus on submersion audio, a revolutionary technology that promises the ultimate in audio capture and playback, known as 3D audio, a format that is increasingly being chosen in professional recording, mixing and listening.
"3D audio is the new frontier of excellence, made to transform the listening experience for users across a wide range of applications, from virtual reality games to audio recording and streaming," announced co-CEOs Daniel Sennheiser and Andreas Sennheiser.
"We have been active in this area for some time with 9.1 mixing and recording and audio design for prominent displays. We are now increasing our efforts considerably to introduce this incredible sound quality into new products and applications, enabling users to experience and shape the future of audio." Sennheiser's 3D immersion audio products and activities will carry the new Ambeo brand.
Visitors to the show were able to experience Ambeo 3D first-hand in the dedicated 9.1 listening room at the Sennheiser booth. Here, expert Sennheiser Sound Engineer Gregor Zielinsky presented original 9.1 recordings and remixes of the musical legacy for the 9.1 format.
Another part of the 3D audio experience zone is dedicated to the virtual reality microphone. Designed with VR content producers, the discreet microphone captures high-quality audio in four quadrants.
The VR microphone will be a basic tool in any live-action VR production and will be released in the third quarter of 2016, followed by a package with the same microphone and an additional software program for post-production of VR content in 2017.
One more milestone in the 3D audio section is the Venue Modeling software. The demo version features the room features of different clubs and clubs, such as Mighty in San Francisco, and the Rex Club in Paris, and allows DJs to experience their sets as if they were in the middle of the audience.
The technology of Venue Modeling will be a watershed in the acoustic replication of virtual rooms. Unlike other reverb tools and additional programs, this additional VST program allows ambitious DJs, PA artists, and EM producers to experience their audio tracks at the location where they want to perform.
The additional program helps customize the audio to any desired room atmosphere, and a database of growing venues connected to the additional program will offer DJs an ideal source to prepare for their shows. The additional VST program will be available in mid-2016.
